A battle between the secular scientific community and Christianity has been brewing for quite some time now, and after the March for Science this weekend, the issue appears to be reaching a boiling point. The march was highly publicized by the media, and highly politicized.
The question at issue in many of this discussions, both online and in the media, is this: does science refute the Bible?
Atheists have increasingly made this claim and have attempted to mainstream this line of thinking as fact, firmly believing that science does indeed discredit God and run in direct opposition with many things written in the Bible.
Former Harvard physics instructor and Emmy-winning ABC News Science editor Dr. Michael Guillen vehemently disagrees with this assertion. “Absolutely not” he argues, while explaining that faith is a necessary part of science, Christianity, and any intelligent, comprehensive, coherent worldview. It’s even “vastly more powerful than even logic” according to his book, Amazing Truths: How Science and the Bible Agree.
Faithwire’s Kirsten Haglund recently spent some time with Dr. Guillen on The Sonder Podcast, and engaged in a fascinating discussion that covers many of the issues atheists often use to make the claim that the Bible is indeed wrong.
