There are few songs that have the ability to unite and inspire people of all backgrounds and walks of life the way Amazing Grace does. There are countless renditions, many stirring in their own right, but the latest cover by musician and veteran Dave Bray is particularly powerful.
Released on Armed Forces Day (May 20), Bray’s version serves as a “tribute to the fallen” and pays homage to his military roots, having served in the U.S. Navy as an 8404 FMF Corpsman for the 2nd Battalion/2nd Marines, (STA PLT), based in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In the music video, his rock-tinged vocals are featured alongside poignant imagery of soldiers in combat and on the home front.
In a post about the new video on his Facebook page on Memorial Day, Bray asked his fans to remain mindful of the sacrifice servicemen and women and their families have made for our freedom.
“For Many… Memorial Day is a very difficult time… As our Nation celebrates the holiday, Gold Star Families are mourning their fallen,” he wrote. “I’m hoping that you will take a quiet moment to watch and share our NEW video for AMAZING GRACE… It truly is ‘amazing’! We’re also praying that it will help this Nation to Remember the sacrifice of our Fallen Sons and Daughters on this very Holy of days… With Gratitude and Pride…”
