Sometimes, it’s the simplest acts of kindness that truly make an impact. The latest example comes from a restaurant called Huddle House in Douglas, Georgia, where a cook recently stopped everything she was doing to help a veteran in need.
A man named Dallas Smith Jr. told Inside Edition that he was inside the restaurant when the kind act unfolded. It all started when an elderly man was struggling to cut his pancakes.
A younger man dining with him reached over to help, but a cook identified as Ms. Wanda saw what was happening and stepped in.
“The young man reached over to help him, but the cook behind the counter said ‘hold on one sec, I’ll get that for you,'” Smith told the outlet, explaining that the cook told the younger man to eat his food and proceeded to help cut the pancakes.

It was a simple act, yet one that left Smith inspired, as he said that it “touched” his heart — so much so that he recorded the cook’s kind act and posted it on Facebook.
“She wasn’t doing it for a show,” he added. “I’m a Christian, and I’ve seen Jesus through her, what she did. This day and age, you don’t see people doing stuff like that.”
He said that Ms. Wanda didn’t want to be recorded, but that she was okay with it so long as it blesses others.
“She’s a perfect example of what the Bible teaches us to be like,” he told Inside Edition. “If everyone was more like her, I don’t think we’d have many problems.”
The video has since gone viral on Facebook, inspiring scores of people along the way. Smith told KHOU-TV that the veteran’s family later reached out to him and said that the veteran in the clip is local to Douglas and frequents the restaurant.
