A viral video featuring a man’s emotional message of gratitude to his birth mom continues to tug at heart strings across the globe.
The clip, which features Australian radio host Ryan Jon, quickly went viral after he uploaded it to Facebook earlier this month.

Jon explains in the heartwarming and candid message that he’s never met his birth mom, Julie. That said, he used the video to tell her how grateful he is that she decided to bring him into the world and give him up for adoption.
“When she got pregnant unexpectedly she didn’t believe that she had the time or maturity to be a great mom,” Jon said. “She wanted to make sure that her child had every opportunity available.”
He went on to explain the positive impact that the decision had on both him and his adoptive parents.
“I’m really happy to exist,” he said. “My parents who I now call mom and dad, they were told they couldn’t be parents and now they are and so they’re really happy as well.”
While he’s heard stories of mothers who give their babies up for adoption and are saddled with regret as a result, he offered an encouraging message for those who find themselves in that very circumstance.
“From my point of view it’s the total opposite,” Jon said. “You’ve given someone the gift of life. You’ve sacrificed your body, your life.”
He concluded the video by thanking Julie for her decision, expressing the hope that his video would go viral enough for her to see it. But Jon said he isn’t looking for his birth mom to respond and simply wants her to know that he’s grateful.
“She gave me my life and I feel like the least I can do is let her live hers,” he said through tears. “I just wanted to say thank you for everything.”
