A mother-to-be who is expecting her second child after suffering six miscarriages commissioned a multi-colored maternity photo shoot that has gone viral.
The newest addition to the Jessica and Kevin Mahoney’s family is due in November and the couple wanted to organize something special for the photo shoot.
The Mahoneys contacted Connecticut-based photographer JoAnn Marrero and told her that they wanted to have rainbow inspired photos for their rainbow baby, which is a baby born after a miscarriage, stillbirth or infant loss.
Marrero worked with fellow photographer Mary Maloney to create “their own rainbow” using colorful smoke bombs. The shoot involved lots of coughing, color-stained clothing, but the Maloney kept her composure, Marrero said.
The almost ethereal photos that resulted from the shoot were worth the inconveniences.
The couple’s 4-year-old son Corbin joined in on the fun as well.
Once the photos hit social media, hundreds of comments began pouring in with readers both relating to Maloney’s child-bearing struggles and praising her for her bravery, tenacity and determination.
