In a new video blog exclusive to Faithwire, former “Hills” star Heidi Pratt discusses the personal setbacks and struggles that have delayed her hopes for motherhood — something she’s dreamed about since she was a little girl.

As a child, Heidi’s fairytale vision of life as an adult included a bustling household full of children.

Late last month, the former “Hills” star made headlines in an interview with Faithwire, where she opened up about her faith, personal desires to have a baby and learning from past failures.

Now, she’s sharing with us her personal trials in getting pregnant and lifting up other women with words of wisdom in this must see video.

Starting off, the Hollywood star says,”Growing up, one of the biggest desires and dreams I always had was being a mom and playing house — (and) how many kids am I going to have. I think that is such a natural thing for little girls to dream about, then I grew up and the reality of playing house was not what I thought.”

A truth that many women can relate too.

Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for that facade to come crumbling down around her, especially at a time when she felt called to start a family.

“My career was not in a good place, my finances were not in a good place — I wasn’t mentally prepared for it. I had a lot of family trauma going on, and we just spent all of our money.”

Plus, Pratt said, her husband’s heart was hardened to the idea of children.

But now there’s an entirely different set of challenges and stumbling blocks popping up even though the Pratt’s are both saying “yes” to parenthood.

“So we decided to have kids about a year ago, and then I needed arm surgery. I (had) torn my tendon and I physically couldn’t do it.”

“I was just so upset again, and I was like, ‘God, my husband finally agreed, and we are in such a good place — we are in a great place with our family, our finances…I just didn’t understand why. So that was another whole layer that I needed to deal with, and it continued to teach me to not make kids an idol in my heart and to prioritize God and his plan.”

Things appeared to be looking up after a successful surgery.

“Now I am finally (starting) to get strong,” she said, pointing to her arm. “I had my surgery.”

But, Pratt’s not quite in the clear yet. “I just heard that I might need arm surgery on this one,” she said, while looking down at her other limb. Another hurdle to add to their list of delays. While things aren’t going quite according to her plan, she’s still managing to keep perspective.

“I’m actually really thankful we didn’t have kids a year ago, because we have different opportunities coming up that I would have said no to if we had kids.”

After all of this, Heidi has a personal manifesto, which she shares in the hopes that others will be inspired:

“I really want to encourage women out there to have the power of prayer — to prioritize your husband and what he says. I think it is really important to want to have kids together. Marriage is a partnership. It is not just your own life anymore. It is both of you, and you want that great family unit — such a priority for us in this world.

So women out there, I want to encourage you.

God knows the priorities in your heart, and he just wants you to prosper  and just keep up the great work. You are amazing. You do so much out there. Love yourself through it. Be compassionate, be supportive and delight yourself in the Lord. He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Closing out the conversation with a statement that we all need to hear at the end of the day, “God bless you guys. Thank you for spending time with me, and keep up the great work.”
