Keith Crowell, a Wisconsin resident, needs America’s help to rebuild his life and neck after a routine barber shop shave has left him with forty pound keloids on each side of his neck.

A keloid is a raised scar that develops after a wound has properly healed. But in Crowell’s case, the size and pain associated with it has been life altering.

The hardest part, is that his insurance will not cover it and he does not have the financial resources to pay, so he’s turned to gofundme to get monies to pay for his expenses which include airfare, lodging and the procedure.

The man is asking for $50,000 in total and has raised at this time $20,000 in 30 days.

At the backbone of this effort is the man’s faith. Crowell has turned to his church family and the power of prayer to get him through hard times and hopefully get him to the procedure to remove the pooled skin.

12 years ago, Crowell was cut and he said,”I had a bad reaction when I went to a barber and he gave me shave and nicked me on both sides.”

And calls his current physical appearance difficult. Crowell told the local television station WTKR, “It can be devastating. Sometimes I feel real bad”

“I want to be like, a normal person.”

Crowell is hopeful that he can get to see a New York surgeon who has a 96 percent success rates for cases similar to this.

For the condition, Crowell has had two surgeries to remove almost 40 pounds of flesh but each operation has shown to be unsuccessful because it all has grown back.
