Singer and actress Jordin Sparks has openly discussed her Christian faith over the years, but she took her public devotion to an entirely new level in a recent Instagram post, sharing a photo of her Bible and imploring fans to read Proverbs.

Sparks, who opened up her post with the words, “So much wisdom,” proceeded to quote from Proverbs 3:5-6, Proverbs 4:13 and Proverbs 4:20-23, urging her fans to dive into those scriptures.

The most notable part of her post, though, was the photo she shared of her Bible — a picture that showed highlighted and underlined verses as well as hearts and stars on its pages, indicating which parts of scripture clearly resonated with her.

Sparks explained how she’s been diving deep into scripture of late, marking up her Bible along the way — an act she learned from her grandparents.

“I remember seeing my parents & grandparents Bibles marked up like this when I was younger. I’ve only had this Bible for a little less than a year & I look at the pages of mine now & I understand,” the singer wrote. “These are so much more than words. It’s amazingly overwhelming and I cannot fully explain it.”

SO MUCH WISDOM! PLEASE READ THIS! 'Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Take hold of my instructions; don't let them go. Guard them, for they are the key to life. My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don't lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.' Proverbs 3:5&6, 4:13 & 20-23 . . I remember seeing my parents & grandparents Bibles marked up like this when I was younger. I've only had this Bible for a little less than a year & I look at the pages of mine now & I understand. These are so much more than words. It's amazingly overwhelming and I cannot fully explain it. Everyone takes their own unique journey. It's filled with experiences that are joyous, difficult, easy and painful. But somewhere along the line, after many experiences, they finally 'wake up.' I love the expression: "When a man's Bible is falling a part, the man isn't." I'm awake Lord. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Be encouraged today. Grab that Bible off the table & dive in! Please share! ❤️ (This Is called The Wayfinding Bible. ITS AMAZING. I've had multiple Bibles since I was young but this one is just fantastic!) #dailybread #proverbs

Sparks went on to discuss the fact that everyone takes his or her own journey in life filled with a variety of happy and painful scenarios and experiences, noting that many people, at some point, tend to “wake up.”

“I love the expression: ‘When a man’s Bible is falling a part, the man isn’t,'” she wrote. “I’m awake Lord. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Be encouraged today. Grab that Bible off the table & dive in!”

Sparks also shared that the name of her specific Bible she owns is “The Wayfinding Bible,” and encouraged people to share her post in an effort to encourage others.
