As many young single Christian women continue to search for a man of faith, Fantasia Barrino is explaining what finally worked for her: prayer.
And God answered hers in what she says is a very clear way.
The American Idol season 3 winner decided to use this past Christmas to renew her wedding vows to her current husband, Kendall Taylor, in a ceremony the 2006 Dreamgirls movie actress is calling “the right way.”
In a series of social media posts showcasing the vow renewal the singer also shared these words:
“I love you so much that I’d do it over and over and over again! When I met you, I just never knew! It’s almost like I may have known you in another life. Like this love has happened before and that’s how it works so well between us because we’ve been here before. So we did it AGAIN! The right way … so … Yes I DO.”
The R & B singer first married in July 2015 after only dating for three weeks in a quiet ceremony. Barrino claimed that she knew he was the right one when he did this one simple thing: he offered to pray for her.
In a Billboard interview she said, “I just knew [he was the one]. I was getting ready to go on the road, and he got on his knees and said, ‘Can I pray for you? I just want to cover for you down the road.'”
That was a particularly significant moment for Barrino because, as she explained, it was a direct answer to her previous prayers.
“In the time I’d been fasting from relationships, I asked God for someone to pray for me – someone that could cover me and my kids and be the man of the house. That’s when I knew.”
All of this had come after her lowest points in life, in which she says she was a ‘broken woman’ who made headlines for her attempted suicide.
