Some troubling news coming out of Texas today, as George H.W. Bush and his beloved wife Barbara Bush have been hospitalized. According to KTRK the Bushes were admitted to the ICU at a Houston area hospital due to a respiratory problem after battling pneumonia.

Mrs. Bush was also admitted to the same hospital, for what reports describe as a “precaution” as she was battling fatigue and coughing fits.

The former President has been in the hospital since Saturday, according to CNN.

As reported by ABC News initially, Bush sent a letter to President-elect Trump expressing his regrets for not being able to attend due to health issues.

“We wish you the very best as you begin this incredible journey of leading our great country. My doctor says if I sit outside in January, it likely will put me six feet under. Same for Barbara. So I guess we’re stuck in Texas.”

George Bush is 92 years old, while Barbara is 91.
