A 13-year-old boy with no arms has become an “internet sensation” after a viral video showed him sinking a three-pointer just before the buzzer went off during a recent middle school basketball game.

Video of Jamarion Styles’s amazing shot — which he made without any prosthetics — has captivated the internet since the video first went viral last Thursday, understandably spreading like wildfire.

Styles, a student at Eagles Landing Middle School in Boca Raton, Florida, lost portions of both arms after suffering a bacterial infection as an infant. Despite that major life setback, though, he’s proven that athleticism and the will to succeed can transcend personal roadblocks, as WPEC-TV reported.

The teen told the outlet that he loves to play both basketball and football and that his teammates help him out. But he also offered up some inspiring advice to anyone who might also find themselves facing difficult life challenges.

“I don’t mind. I run right past through it, but it’s really boostin’ me up with confidence. So, I try hard every day,” Styles said. “Just stay positive and you can do whatever you can if you want to.”

Style’s story is inspiring the internet and lighting up social media, with his persistence capturing the most attention. After all, the young man said he learned to make three-pointers by practicing; now, he said he makes the shots “all the time.”

And, according to USA Today, hearing that he’s been an inspiration to so many people has only made Styles want to work harder.

As The Los Angeles Times noted, this isn’t the first time Styles has been in the headlines. Back in December, some students at the University of Florida crafted prosthetics for him so that he could play the drums — an act that also made the news at the time.
