Conservative commentator Sean Hannity is certainly no fan of comedian Stephen Colbert, yet Hannity pushed back against angry calls for CBS to fire “The Late Show” host following a fiery rant Colbert issued against President Donald Trump on Monday night.

It didn’t take long after Colbert’s rebuke of Trump for the hashtag #FireColbert to emerge on social media. But rather than jump on board and bash an ideological foe, Hannity took to Twitter to defend free speech and dismiss calls for a boycott.

“I will NOT support #FireColbert. I am vs ALL BOYCOTTS,” Hannity wrote. “He is a horrible human being, but if u don’t like him change the channel.”

And he wasn’t done there. In a separate tweet, Hannity continued, “Boycotts, demands to fire people who make political comments you disagree with, this is what the left is doing to conservatives #FreeSpeech.”

Hannity’s defense of free speech came amid fallout from Colbert’s now-infamous monologue. Mediaite captured just a few of Colbert’s anti-Trump insults: “Mr. President, I love your presidency, I call it ‘Disgrace The Nation,'” “You talk like a sign language gorilla who got hit in the head” and “The only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c***holster.”

You can watch the monologue below (caution: language):

Colbert responded to public backlash on Wednesday night, saying that he would have changed a few words “that were cruder than they needed to be,” but that he didn’t regret critiquing Trump, CNN reported.

“So at the end of that monologue I had a few choice insults for the president in return. I don’t regret that,” he said. “He, I believe, can take care of himself. I have jokes; he has the launch codes. So, it’s a fair fight.”
