Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson captured quite a bit of attention this weekend after he posted a loving Mother’s Day message to his wife Ciara, who recently delivered a baby girl named Sienna.

“Nothing better than spending time with you,” Wilson wrote to his wife. “You are an amazing mom & I’m so grateful I get to spend the rest of my life with you & raising our kids. I love you! #HappyMothersDay Weekend my love.”

One of the reasons the post captured so much attention is that Ciara, a well-known singer, has a nearly 3-year-old son named Future Jr. from a previous relationship with rapper Future.

Sienna is Wilson and Ciara’s first biological child, but the NFL star’s Instagram message makes it clear that he considers her son his own child as well.

While Wilson’s post was widely praised as loving and endearing, some took issue with his mention of “kids.” But controversy aside, many of Wilson’s fans praised his embrace of Ciara’s young son.

“It takes a real man to help raise another mans child,” user rosecaltiweyang wrote. “Russell is the MVP for this one.”

And xaharii added, “You are a good man and a great father to your kids. And so lucky to have Ciara.”

As Faithwire previously reported, Wilson has repeatedly and publicly thanked God for his marriage and his family. “Jesus is an amazing God!” he wrote in a post last year, sharing a photo of himself, Ciara and her son.

“I thank Him everyday for bringing us together and I will forever cherish our loving family,” he added.
