Actor and movie producer Kirk Cameron has a message for Americans who are concerned and fearful over ever-troubling news reports and rampant divisiveness: “We’ve got to start thinking differently.”
Cameron, whose film “Revive Us” releases on DVD on Tuesday, told Faithwire that he’s concerned not only for his generation, but for the future generations to come — and he’s hoping his movie can help offer citizens some important tools that inspire unity.

“‘Revive Us’ is my offering of a set of values and a set of principles that we can all embrace without sacrificing our differences,” Cameron said. “This is a strategy that allows us to celebrate our differences [while helping] us move forward. We cannot do it without humility and an absolute trust in God, and if we don’t do that we’ll destroy each other.”
The “Revive Us” event was originally broadcast live from Harvest Chapel in Chicago, Illinois, last fall to theaters across America, bringing together some of Cameron’s well-known friends — including Dr. Ben Carson, Francis Chan and Eric Metaxas, among others — to discuss the answer to an important question: “At a time like this, when things seem so dark, what can we do?”
Cameron said that the idea for “Revive Us” came as he was traveling around the nation conducting marriage conferences before the 2016 election and he kept hearing a similar theme unfold wherever he went.
“I heard the same thing from everyone — ‘What’s happening to our nation? We are on the edge of going over the cliff. I’m so concerned about the future for our children. We’ve reached the last days of this great nation,'” Cameron said. “So, I called a national family meeting … to gather the family of faith and hear from some of my smartest and most faithful friends.”
He continued, “We prayed, worshipped and learned how to revive the heart of a nation.”
Cameron said that “Revive Us” brings together foundational principles and, thus, provides a starting point. First, he said it’s essential to identify the problem — what’s “causing America to be on moral and spiritual life support.”
The problem, he said, is that the U.S. “has lost its true faith in God.”

Getting back to the core values is essential, Cameron said. So, he’s planning a sequel to the first “Revive Us” live event, once again inviting well-known faith and political leaders to come together to help the nation search for solutions.
Carson, Chan and others like Ravi Zacharias and Joni Eareckson Tada will join Cameron to talk about forging unity amid ongoing racial, political, economic and educational divides.
Vice President Mike Pence has also been invited to attend, though he is not yet confirmed for the event.
The central goal of the follow-up event will be to help Americans “find the highest common denominator so the family of faith can work together with those who differ from us to find unity and togetherness and a pathway to solving our problems.”
