Christian singer Danny Gokey delivered a powerful message on Tuesday to a fan who revealed that one of his songs helped stop her from committing suicide.

It all started when Twitter user @debbie_dice wrote a brief message to the singer explaining that his music inspired her to forge on.
“Your songs always inspire me. You’re a blessing,” she wrote. “‘Hope in Front of Me’ [is] one of the things that stopped me from suicide. Thank you.”
Gokey responded with encouragement, writing that he is so glad that the woman didn’t take her own life and he added that God has a wonderful plan for her future.

The initial message thanking Gokey also inspired others to respond as well, with Twitter user @AndyPandy184 telling @debbie_dice that she is “God’s masterpiece” and that he isn’t done with her yet.
And Twitter user @Samanth97619808 also noted that another of Gokey’s songs, “Tell Your Heart to Beat Again,” has also guided her through a difficult time.

Gokey has experienced his own share of loss and pain. His first wife, Sophia, died unexpectedly in 2008 during a routine heart surgery — and the tragic loss shook him to his core.
“It caused me to question everything, because you’re taught in church that, you know, God is this — he’s a healer, he’s a helper, he’s a refuge,” Gokey told me in a 2015 interview. “And then I go, and I pray and I believe God, and she’s praying and I’m praying that God would heal her, and that doesn’t happen. And so, it called everything that I believed into question.”
Over time, though, he healed and now continues to inspire the masses with his music. We’ll leave you with a video of Gokey performing “Hope in Front of Me” below:
