Bible teacher Ann White is on a mission to help hurting women better connect with the gospel through an innovative, new Bible project that will be distributed at homeless shelters, battered women’s shelters, safe houses and other facilities.

White, who founded the international ministry Courage For Life, recently told Faithwire that a new audio Bible, titled, “The Courage for Life Women’s Audio Bible” will be a free resource that will take women from Genesis through Revelation, with all of the scripture readings being recorded by women.

The audio Bible is, thus, a first of its kind, White explained. She also noted that there are specific barriers that prevent some of the women she serves with from being able to dive deeply into the scriptures — barriers she’s trying to overcome.

White is hoping the new audio Bible can help meet the greatest needs of these women, while transforming their perspective by presenting the gospel in digestible form.

“These women who have prayed to receive Christ … but if they don’t have access to God’s word, they’re at a stalemate,” she said. “An audio Bible was something we thought was critically important, especially in a women’s voice.”

White noted that she believes the gender-specific nature of the Bible reading will help women struggling with mental health issues, trauma and substance abuse. Meanwhile, she explained that many women who are in jail have low reading skills and a lack of education, which makes reading the Bible difficult.

Then there are other at-risk women who are not originally from the U.S. and are not proficient in the English language. This is precisely why an audio version is so helpful.

“After spending countless hours ministering to hurting women who are struggling to embrace their God-given courage, our team recognized a critical void that was common to each facility where we teach,” White said, noting that the Bible version was announced after more than a year of fundraising, research and exploration into the needs of this population.

“One of the greatest joys of our life is when we go in and we work with at-risk women,” she said. “Our greatest desire is to get God’s word into the hands of every man, woman and child who wants it.”

It’s amazing how simple tweaks can help reach people in unexpected and important ways.
