‘There Really Is Redemption’: Actor Dennis Quaid Reveals Where Journey to Discover God Led Him

Actor Dennis Quaid is set to hit the big screen on March 16 in the new movie “I Can Only Imagine,” a feature film inspired by Mercy Me’s hit song by the same name.

Quaid, who plays character Arthur Millard — real-life father of Mercy Me lead singer Bart Millard — revealed in a video clip that his Christian roots run deep.

“I grew up in the Baptist church, went to Sunday school and then got baptized when I was 9,” he said, going on to explain that he eventually went on to travel the world and become a seeker. “I read the Bible cover to cover.”

In the end, he said he embarked on a journey to discover God, and eventually came to a conclusion.

“For me, it’s Jesus … there really is redemption in that,” he said. “That was the inspiration.”

Quaid was apparently so moved by his role in “I Can Only Imagine” that he completed a song he started writing for his mother 25 years ago titled, “On My Way to Heaven.”
