They may not look identical, but Holden Keller and Hayden Keller, who were born with different colored skin, are actually twins.

The boy’s mother, 36-year-old Spring, Texas, resident Amy Keller, is white. The boy’s father is black, The Epoch Times reported.

Holden inherited his mother’s blond hair and blue eyes, while Hayden took after his father.

During her pregnancy, doctors told Keller to she was expecting identical twins because they were sharing a placenta.

But, it was clear that the babies were not identical when they were born in December 2016.

People don’t believe Keller at first when she tells them they’re twins.

“As they’ve gotten older, their differences are so striking,” Keller said of her boys. “Sometimes people don’t even believe they are brothers.”

The 15-month-olds’ personalities are “so different,” as well, Keller said.

“Hayden is completely fearless. He is a little daredevil,” she said. “He’s the first one to leap off the couch and to jibber jabber with anyone who will listen. He’s so outgoing.”

Holden, on the other hand is “a little mommy’s boy.”

“He’s a bit shy and really cautious,” Keller said. “He is definitely the follower.”

Despite their differences, the boys share their love of dinosaurs and growling at the family dogs, Keller said.

Unfortunately, Keller said she’s received some negative feedback to her posts on Facebook.

“It does hurt me and it does get to me,” she said.

Keller said she worries about the questions her sons will face as they “grow up a little bit and start to recognize their differences.”

“I worry about people grilling them with questions, like, ‘Is he really your twin?’” she said.

Since the boys’ father is not in their lives, Keller said she worries about how Holden’s experience may be different, since he is growing up in a largely Caucasian family. She hopes to “build the foundations of love and acceptance” to combat and misgivings he may have in the future.

“When the time comes I will just explain to him that Holden and him are brothers and nothing can change that,” she said.
