In a soon-to-be-aired interview with Dr. Phil, one of the victims of a horrific kidnapping torture case in Cleveland Ohio has revealed she is happily married.

Michelle Knight was one of the three women held captive in Ariel Castro’s Cleveland “House of Horrors” for more than a decade after he kidnapped her on August 23, 2002. Knight suffered horrific physical and sexual abuse at the hands of her captor. Following her rescue, Knight told police that Castro had impregnated her at least five times but had induced miscarriages each time through savage beatings: hitting with dumbbells, punching, and slamming her against walls.

After being arrested, Castro pleaded guilty to 937 criminal counts of rape, kidnapping, and aggravated murder as part of a plea bargain. He received a sentence of life imprisonment plus 1,000 years without the possibility of parole. Just one month into his sentence, Castro committed suicide in his cell. When Knight confronted the despicable man with the simple question “why did you do it?” he replied, “I am a sex addict and I cannot control myself.”

Many will forever remember the story not just for the horrific crime, but for the incredible escape, and the unforgettable interview from hero neighbor Charles Ramsey.

Despite her horrific ordeal, Knight has been rebuilding her life in the most remarkable way. “It’s so good to see you… I got really good news for you,” she told Dr. Phil, as reported by TMZ. “I am married.” Knight tied the knot to 39-year-old Mario just two years after her release from captivity – in May 2015.

Just a year after escaping the clutches of her sick captor, Michelle told PEOPLE, “I don’t dwell on the past. I really try to look forward. I want to be remembered as a victor, not a victim.”

“I’m doing really good,” Knight added. “Freedom is the air I breathe, the city I walk in. Everything is beautiful to me.”

Michelle wrote of her harrowing experience in her book “Finding Me: A Decade of Darkness, a Life Reclaimed.” She is now set to release a new book titled “Life After Darkness.”

Pray for Knight as she continues to recover from her horrific experience.
