Retired veteran, Jose Castellon, is asking everyone in Florida to keep their eyes open for his therapy dog who ran off during a car accident this past Sunday.

Castellon was driving on a Florida interstate when he got into a tragic car accident. His black and white Maltese-Papillon mix, Luna, bolted from the scene of the accident when responders arrived.

Castellon, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in 2016, does not remember anything from the car accident, only that first responders removed him from his car.

“He got into a car accident. He doesn’t remember anything about it,” Zoraida Castellon, the 20-year veteran’s sister-in-law said. “Only thing he remembers is when the first responders got there and they were taking him out of the car.”

When the Volusia County rescue crew arrived at the scene, they had to cut the vehicle apart to get Castellon out safely. Luna bolted from the accident and hasn’t been seen since.

“He’s been asking for her for the last couple of days,” Castellon told Fox 35. “He’s doing good, but I think he’s more depressed about his dog. He cares about getting better.”

Luna is microchipped but has yet to turn up anywhere. The Castellon family has asked for anyone with information regarding the dog to contact authorities or local shelters.
