Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro unloaded on the unthinkable atrocity unfolding in the UK right now, where toddler Alfie Evans is being essentially held against his parents will at Alder Hey hospital, which seems determined to see the toddler die.
Alfie Evans Gets ONE MORE Hearing as Dad Goes Off: ‘Not Even an Animal Would be Treated Like This’
Tom Evans, Alfie’s dad, said this morning that he’s “disgusted” with the way his son has been treated and that animals would get better care, while explaining that he had to do mouth to mouth because the staff seemed disinterested in trying to keep Alfie alive.
If the newest royal baby were to have a similar condition, would this be the treatment they received? We’re sorry, Princess, it’s not in your child’s ‘best interest’ to stay alive? Of course they wouldn’t say that, they’d do everything possible to save the child. Shapiro argued that this obvious disparity makes it appear as if there may be a class differentiation in the UK after all.
Shapiro then turned to the deafening silence from the American left, including the mainstream media, on this story.
“Where is the American left in all of this?” an incredulous Shapiro asked. “The American left that says abortion is ok because it’s just a clump of cells, but once it’s born it’s no longer just a cluster of cells. Where are they for all of this?” Shapiro said, while including a throwback reference to the 2002 movie ‘John Q’ starring Denzel Washington. That movie was about a man frustrated at his insurance, and he went to great lengths to get his child treatment. The left applauded the movie at the time as an example of the evils of the insurance industry.
Now, as we see real life evils play out in the government run healthcare system across the pond, they say nothing.
“The parents aren’t asking the British government to pay for anything. In this particular case, you’ve got a father who’s trying to remove his son from a hospital to save his son’s life and the American left is utterly silent. So when it comes to free market economics and the healthcare system in the united states, then they’re very upset. But when it comes to actual bureaucratic murder happening in the UK, then the American left goes absolutely silent. Which says to me that this has a lot less to do with how they think the healthcare system should be run and a lot more to do with how they view the value of human life,”
Shapiro’s rant is well worth a listen, as he went on to explaining the national healthcare system, and how it is ‘devastating’ to human life in cases like this.
