Little Alfie Evans continues to amaze the world almost three full days after doctors took him off life support against his parents’ wishes.

As Faithwire reported, the toddler’s parents will meet with the doctors at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital today to request to take him into their home and care for him there.

Perhaps even more incredible than Aflie’s ability to defy doctors 60 hours after they unplugged his ventilator, effectively sentencing him to death, is the wonderful support system this little boy has in his loving parents.

On Thursday morning, Alfie’s dad, 21-year-old Tom Evans, revealed in an interview with British broadcaster Nick Ferrari that Aflie’s mom has been keeping him alive and comforted by cradling him on her chest, Mirror reported.

My whole entire world I love you so much baby boy ?????

In an incredible testament to maternal love, Kate James has been by her son’s side throughout this entire grim battle. While her partner Tom has met with politicians, religious leaders and members of the media to secure their son’s right to life, James has ensured that her son keeps receiving the most important medicine there is.

The scientifically proven benefits of skin-to-skin contact between a parent and child are manifold. It can regulate a child’s heart rate, temperature, sleep and even emotions. Skin-to-skin contact helps the child’s nervous system, effectively reducing stress and pain.

“For the third day now, there’s been not one single problem with him,” Tom Evans said Thursday.

It would seem as though Alfie is being kept alive solely by the prayers of people around the world and the warm embrace of his mother. In short, love is keeping him alive.

Please continue to pray for Alfie and his family. As always, Faithwire will keep you updated with the latest on the story.
