If there’s one thing Americans can unite on, it’s Chick-Fil-A. They’re known for their phenomenal food, outstanding customer service, and care for the community – it’s even a massive hit in New York City.

They constantly go above and beyond, and Memorial Day is no different. The latest round of awesomeness started about two years ago when a post from a Chick-Fil-A in Gardendale, Alabama went viral. The post detailed a table they had set and reserved to honor those who have lost their lives fighting for our country.
The table had a framed note inside of it, that was called “Missing Man Table. The note read:
We cover a small table with a white cloth to honor a soldier’s pure heart when he answers his country’s call to duty. We place a lemon slice and grains of salt on a plate to show a captive soldier’s bitter fate and tears of families waiting for loved ones to return. We push an empty chair to the table for the missing soliders who are not here. We lay a black napkin for the sorrow of captivity, and turn over the glass for the meal that won’t be eaten. We place a white candle for peace. And finally a red rose in a vase tied with a red ribbon for the hope that all our missing will return someday. You are not forgotten so long as there is one left in whom your memory remains.

Two Chick-Fil-A’s in Alabama both honored the fallen by setting these tables, not knowing that they would be starting a nationwide tradition.
What a great example the fast-food chain is setting for all, once again. While many heads to BBQ’s, beach days, and parties they quickly forget the true meaning of Memorial Day.
Despite what many think, it does not represent the start of summer, but almost the exact opposite.
It is a day set apart to honor those that have laid down their lives for the freedoms of all Americans so that they have the freedom to do things like have BBQ’s and beach days.
As we are reminded in the book of John, there is nothing greater a friend can do than lay down their life for another.
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
This year, Chick-Fil-A’s all across the country set up “Missing Man Tables” to honor the fallen.
Here are a few of the snapshots:
