Some American Airlines flights were delayed Tuesday morning after a cleaning crew found a dead fetus in the bathroom toilet of a commercial plane at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
The ghastly discovery was made around 7:30 a.m. aboard an out-of-service Airbus A321 airliner in one of the terminal’s hangars, the New York Post reported. The flight, which came from Charlotte, North Carolina, landed at LaGuardia Monday night.

At this point, it’s uncertain if the baby was unborn or if it had already been born. A preliminary investigation determined the body to be between three and six months old.
“As we continue to learn more about this tragic and sensitive situation, we are actively cooperating with law enforcement in its investigation,” a statement from American Airlines read.

Though not many details have been released about the developing story, the office of the NYC Medical Examiner said in a statement to WPIX-TV that they do believe a deceased human fetus was discovered on the airliner.
“We will release determination when investigation is complete,” the statement added.
After an angry customer tweeted LaGuardia Airport and American Airlines, the latter responded, explaining to the enraged traveler to let her know emergency personnel were addressing the “medical needs of a customer.”
