Lysa TerKeurst has had an incredibly tough past couple years, overcoming breast cancer and enduring tremendous personal struggle. Last June, she posted a blog in which she announced that her 25-year-marriage had come to an end due to her husband’s repeated infidelity and struggle with substance abuse. In many ways, Lysa, a gifted women’s ministry leader, would be the last person you’d anticipate this ever happening to. Over a year and a half later, however, the Proverbs 31 President has issued an update on her personal life – and it is fantastic news!

Taking to Instagram, TerKeurst announced that she and her ex-husband, Art, had reconciled and that the Lord had done a mighty work to bring them back together once again.

“On an unusually sunny Tuesday in December, we dressed up a bit and whispered healing words, heart felt promises, and holy vows,” she wrote. “A million prayers. A miracle answer. A marriage restored.”

On an unusually sunny Tuesday in December, we dressed up a bit and whispered healing words, heart felt promises, and holy vows. A million prayers. A miracle answer. A marriage restored. . Thank you @brianschindler @hannaheschindler for capturing these moments. . And @madivincent for draping blooms of grace and beauty all around our day.

When you read Lysa’s devastatingly honest words from last year, it is incredible to see just how far the couple has come.

“My husband, life partner and father of my children, Art TerKeurst, has been repeatedly unfaithful to me with a woman he met online, bringing an end to our marriage of almost 25 years. For the past couple of years, his life has sadly been defined by his affection for this other woman and substance abuse. I don’t share this to harm or embarrass him, but to help explain why I have decided to separate from him and pursue a divorce. God has now revealed to me that I have done all I can do and I must release him to the Savior.”

In a wonderfully poetic Instagram post yesterday, TerKeurst further explained the miraculous change of circumstance in her marital relationship.

“Never doubt we serve a God who still does miracles,” she wrote. “In the middle of the work He did from the devastation in my marriage nothing looked like I hoped and everything felt impossible. I prayed a million suggestions to God that never ever came to be. And the number of tears shed in the process about leaked the life out of me. But all the while when I saw nothing, God was doing something. And in His way and His timing, new life came.”

No matter how impossible that miracle you are praying for seems, please trust that only God knows the full story. He is working. He is hearing and shifting and intervening and convicting and stirring and doing what only He can do. God does some of His best work in the unseen. . And thank you @jenniferabercrombiebeauty for making me feel pretty on this day of my dreams.

Many of Lysa and Art’s family also posted on social media to mark the momentous and celebratory day.

“My rocks. My heros. Gods miracle in motion,” posted TerKeurst’s daughter, Ashley. “The best redemption story there ever was. My parents, together, forever again!”
