Crystal DiGregorio-Bassette has a remarkable story that illustrates the very nature of God’s unending grace. Having spent a decade in the adult film industry, she is now completely liberated from her past life and, quite incredibly, works as a Christian counselor.

Now, the 34-year-old mother is boldly sharing her story in the hope that it will encourage others to know that no matter how deep their sin, God’s love runs deeper still. In some obvious ways, Crystal’s transformation from such an extreme lifestyle to a worship leader and pastor was wildly complex, but in other ways, it was incredibly simple.

“When I was in porn, my life was all about being a sex object,” she told Fox News. “Now I focus on helping people.”

And when people question how someone who spent years filming explicit sex scenes can truly be saved? Well, Crystal’s answer is very simple.

“I asked God into my heart and asked Him to forgive me for my sins,” she answered in a recently posted video testimony:

Of course, due to her career choices and work for a number of high-profile pornography production companies, part of her past will always be visible to people. However, instead of trying to run away from her failings, Crystal says that her experience of profound lostness can be used as a ministry tool when others fall into dark places.

“Anybody feels that they can come to me, and that’s what I like about it,” she explained. “They can talk to me openly and not have to worry about me judging them.”

“We all do wrong,” she continued. “Nobody’s perfect. It didn’t matter if you’ve been saved your whole life or you walk into my church with full-on tattoos. I accept them for who they are, not attack them.”

How did she escape the lucrative porn industry?

With new statistics showing that 35 percent of all internet downloads are porn-related, clearly there is a ton of money to be made by those acting in adult content. Indeed, Crystal herself was certainly doing pretty well from a financial standpoint.

However, despite making around $30,000 per month, she became increasingly convicted about her lifestyle and was compelled to explore the claims of Christ. Then, one Easter Sunday, she found herself weeping at the altar of a church and crying out to the Lord for deliverance. It was a supernatural turning point in her life.

“God removed the veil from my eyes, I started looking at the world differently,” she explained. “I noticed how much people were being hurt by the porn industry and I never really thought of it before that.”

But it didn’t all change at once. Crystal’s lavish lifestyle was difficult break free from. At her peak wealth, the former porn star was living in a $10 million home and driving a Ferrari. But still, the Lord continued to soften her heart and pursue her with love.

After a period of intense conviction, Bassette decided it was time to draw her career to a close.

“I decided that I wanted to help people and stop hurting people,” she said. “I was blind before.”

“Literally, my last two scenes were the most horrific I had to do,” she recalled. “It felt like I was getting raped on the set. I was just sitting there reading the Bible, waiting for my scene, learning more about God.”

Bassette now attends church at Lighthouse Mexico Church of God and helps others overcome their past hurts as a Christian counselor.

And, though she admits to being far from perfect, Crystal is clearly being used mightily by the Lord in this new season of her life.

“God will put you through things to make you stronger, you just can’t ever give up,” Bassette concluded. “You need to leave your past behind. Your rearview mirror in your car is small for a reason and your windshield is much larger because the future is bigger than your past.”
