Christian singer-songwriter Kari Jobe is expecting her second child. In an emotional note penned to her firstborn, Canyon Carnes, Jobe expressed her excitement for a new baby to enter the family.

Jobe shared a funny yet sweet story of Canyon’s reaction when she first told him he was going to be a big brother.

“Canyon… When I first told you we were gonna have a baby join our family you kindly looked at me with an inquisitive brow and as much grace as a 2 year old can muster up, and just said ‘no,’” Jobe wrote to her 1.2 million followers on Instagram.

“I giggled and thought to myself, ‘Thankfully, I have some time to help you understand and ease you in,'” the singer added.

Jobe shared how Canyon’s questions have grown since she broke the news to him, some as innocently funny as you could expect from a child.

“As the weeks and months have crept by and my belly has grown, so have your questions. It’s been so sweet and funny to answer if baby brother lives in your belly too.”

“And to talk about him and how we’ll celebrate his birthday with cake and the happy birthday song, that you actually always still think is just a song for you, ” she added.

Jobe talked about the baby’s birthday and how it would affect Canyon, adding that “I already have a few surprises surrounding his birthday that you’re gonna love.”

She assured her son that they would welcome his “little best friend” together and “journey this new season together.”

“You made me a mama first and me and you will always be best buddies – and now we get to have a new sidekick too – it’s going be even sweeter!” she added. “Tonight when I was laying beside you singing and we were saying our prayers, as you joined in and sang ‘I am not alone’ for the first time, I thought to myself ‘you’re ready.'”

Jobe ended her note to Canyon with the sweetest promise: “I want you to know that you always have my heart -and it will be even bigger than you’ve already known.”

In June 2018, Jobe announced her pregnancy on Instagram with the help of Canyon and some chalk. She shared a collection of photos of her two-year-old playing with chalk, with “Big Brother” written on the sidewalk.

“New Baby Carnes February 2019,” she captioned her announcement.
