A 40-year-old Michigan man is suing his parents after they intentionally threw out his porn collection that was worth almost $30,000.

Porn Creates a Shame Cycle, and Here’s How You Can Break It

As a result of his pornography collection being thrown away, “Charlie” filed a lawsuit against his parents claiming almost $87,000 in damages.

The saga began in 2016, when, following his divorce, Charlie moved back into his parents’ home in Grand Haven.

Just a short 10 months after he moved in, the police were called for a “domestic situation” at the house, and Charlie was asked to move out.

In 2017, Charlie’s parents delivered some remaining personal belongings to their son’s new residence. Missing from this delivery was his collection of pornography and sex toys.

When Charlie asked where his $29,000 pornography collection was, his parents said that they had gotten rid of it. As a result, Charlie called the police to file a complaint, only to have the police decline to press charges.

Shortly after that incident, Charlie sent an email to his father.

“If you had a problem with my belongings, you should have stated that at the time and I would have gone elsewhere. Instead, you choose to keep quiet and behave vindictively,” Charlie wrote, according to WXMI-TV.

“Believe it or not, one reason for why I destroyed your porn was for your own mental and emotional heath [sic]. I would have done the same if I had found a kilo of crack cocaine,” his father wrote back, according to ABC News. “Someday, I hope you will understand.”

“I did you a big favor by getting rid of all this stuff,” Charlie’s father argued.

Charlie’s pornography problem, according to his parents, started when he was in high school.

“According to his father, Charlie’s addiction turned into a small porn business during his high school and college days,” David Aaro of Fox News wrote.

“He was reportedly kicked out of high school and college for selling pornography to other students,” Aaro noted. “His son was warned that if he ever found porn in his house again, he would destroy it.”

Are you struggling with pornography?
