“We didn’t expect to break the internet.”
Jose Cil is the CEO of Restaurant Brands International, which owns Popeyes, admitted they didn’t see this one coming. What America should’ve seen coming, however, is Chick-fil-A responding in epic fashion.
For the better part of a year, Popeyes had been working hard on a brand new chicken sandwich. Somehow, it managed to go extremely viral and there are lines out the door at Popeyes all across the country. Cil said they’ve been forecasting new products for decades and has never seen a reaction quite like this.
People are lining up before the store opens in some cases to get their hands on this apparently delicious new sandwich.
This has left many loyal Chick-fil-A fans with mixed emotions, however.
And as a result of the craze, Popeyes is pretty much out of chicken sandwiches at this point. If you find one, you may as well buy some lotto tickets as well because it’s your lucky day.
Chick-fil-A has long cornered the market in the chicken sandwich department. Even so, most mere mortals would be jealous of this kind of attention. But, the saintly employees of Chick-fil-A aren’t most mere mortals.
They proved this once again with an incredible gesture that knocked out two commands with one stone: love thy enemy and love thy neighbor.
As one of the crazy Popeyes lines ballooned out of control in North Carolina, something incredible happened. It was all documented by Jené Walker on her Facebook page.

The PETTINESS is REALLY REAL y’all ???”
Sooooo the Director said..”if y’all meet me across the street, y’all can have chicken sandwiches on me”. So we met him over there and literally just got a whole meal for FREE!!
ChickFila….I promise to NEVER cheat on you!! You’ve shown loyalty to me..even when I was about to be disloyal to y’all. I love y’all forever.
Apparently, this Popeyes also ran out of their new chicken sandwich. But instead of gloating and greedily scooping up every last hungry customer, the Chick-fil-A across the street decided to show a bit of Biblical type grace.
The director came over with a bag of Chick-fil-A sandwiches and offered both employees and customers free sandwiches. While Jené describes it as “pettiness” this author begs to differ. It’s just another example of Chick-fil-A being awesome despite one of their competitors getting their moment in the limelight.
Once again, Chick-fil-A manages to outdo itself. Just when it seems they’ve reached the mountain top, they climb a little higher. Never doubt Chick-fil-A, even when the competitor is on a roll!
