The faith-based content creator Anchored North is set to launch a brand new internet series “Honest Discourse,” in which two people with opposing perspectives will debate leading hot topics.
Greg Sukert, executive director for Anchored North, told Faithwire on Friday the goal of the project is “to make the Gospel go viral.”
The series was inspired by the fact today’s media environment “is rapidly shaping the worldviews of this generation to celebrate wickedness, such as abortion, materialism, gay marriage, violence, pornography, and relativism.”
“Secular viral videos are dismissing Christianity and are seen by millions,” the description for the forthcoming series reads. “As a result, millennials are leaving the church, and churches have a frail online presence and are lacking media experience to reach them.”
Last fall, Anchored North launched its Virality Podcast, taking the contents of viral videos and discussing them from a Christian perspective. That podcast, created to “expose” ways mainstream media “are completely leading a generation away from Christ,” inspired “Honest Discourse.”
Sukert told Faithwire he’s noticed a dearth of video content truly representing a biblical understanding on hot-topic issues like abortion and same-sex marriage. While there have been some claiming to be Christians, he argued, many of their perspectives “completely abandoned faithfulness to the Scriptures.”
“Their answers are outrageously unbiblical and pleasing to man rather than God, likely because they were being chosen by a secular casting director,” he said. “It’s also possible that since the secular production company maintains control over the final edit, they specifically choose not to include biblically sound answers.”
So now Anchored North is hoping to fill that void with its newest series, launching Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
By creating compelling content appealing to the current generation, Sukert says his hope is “Honest Discourse” will “provide authentic and respectful conversations between individuals who have differing viewpoints surrounding hot topics.”
“Both sides will be represented with integrity, and we will use prayerful discernment to feature outspoken Christians who are biblical, bold, and Christ-centered,” he continued. “Viewers will see Christians engage in hot topics unlike ever before.”
