Pictures of the scene show what looked to be a serious car crash, with the vehicle smashed up and lying on the grassy verge.

Yesterday I experienced what can only be described as Divine protection. I walked (well, crawled) away from what should have been a devastating situation with only that cute little scratch on my arm. /// Also, my trunk popped open and spread all my clothes, shoes, and Only Love CDs all over the interstate. Worst. Scavenger hunt. Ever. /// The only thing in the car that was still in place was Kristen’s Bible in the back window. If you’ve ever wondered if God is real, swipe left!

“Yesterday I experienced what can only be described as Divine protection,” Smith explained on Instagram.

“I walked (well, crawled) away from what should have been a devastating situation with only that cute little scratch on my arm.”

Incredibly, Smith added that the “only thing in the car that was still in place was Kristen’s Bible in the back window.”

“If you’ve ever wondered if God is real, swipe left!” he said.

Many replied to the post, thanking God that Smith was spared more serious injury.

“Thanks be to God,” commented actress Roma Downey. “Wow… God is so good!” added country artist Emily Ann Roberts. “I’m so thankful you’re okay.”

Smith, who describes himself as a “Follower of Christ” on his Insta bio, spoke out about his faith around the time he shot to fame as the winner of the popular singing contest, “The Voice.”

“My faith is the thing that gives me strength and that I find joy in,” he said in a 2015 interview with DJ Chuang.

“At the end of the day with my problems and concerns, I can turn to God and I can have peace in my situation. That’s been the main thing that’s carried me through this. My relationship with God has kept me grounded and has been my foundation through all of it.”

Faithwire has reached out to Smith for more information on the accident. We will update this article when we hear back from him.
