Singer Lauren Daigle has noticed a change in the world, a longing for a place to belong, rooted in a sort of spirituality.
In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s Beat 1, Daigle said she’s noticed a craving among people from all walks of life — even among non-Christians — for some sort of spirituality.
“I’ve looked at so many people — not even just Christians [but] people across the board that believe in certain things — and I really believe that spirituality right now — whether it’s from a Christian perspective, whether it’s Jesus Christ you believe in, or something else — there’s something happening right now,” Daigle, 28, said.
“There’s definitely a climate for it in a way that I haven’t really … seen before,” she continued. “There’s something in our wiring that craves something to believe in … a place to belong. And faith is an element of that.”
Daigle added she’s been “astounded” by the amount of places she’s been able to talk more about spirituality and faith than she’d expect. She said she’s striving to put “love” at the forefront of her actions, particularly her conversations, in a quest for greater connections with people.
And that’s led Daigle to delete her Instagram often — “about 20 times,” she said.
“There are just simply conversations that are meant personally, like one-on-one,” Daigle said. “I feel like a lot of times because social media gives people a microphone — me, I have a physical microphone — we think everything needs to be taken at large.”
“I had to learn: I’m going to start really valuing every person that I meet. If it’s four seconds of time, what can they give, what can I give them? And what is there to learn from someone else?”
