Entertainment mogul Kanye West has donated $1 million to a handful of prison reform charities in honor of his wife, Kim Kardashian, who celebrated her birthday this week.

West made the donation in Kardashian’s honor. The 39-year-old TV personality tweeted about her husband’s gesture Tuesday, the day after her birthday.

I got amazing gifts from my whole family and Kanye for me the most amazing bags. But he also donated $1 million to my favorite charities that work so hard on prison reform on my behalf from him and the kids. This makes my heart so happy! pic.twitter.com/chNkyPRQGW

“I got amazing gifts from my whole family and Kanye for me the most amazing bags,” Kardashian wrote. “But he also donated $1 million to my favorite charities that work so hard on prison reform on my behalf from him and the kids.”

“This makes my heart so happy!” she added.

The generous donation was split between the charities Cut 50, Buried Alive Project, Equal Justice Initiative, and the Anti-Recidivism Coalition.

Kardashian has spent a great deal of time recently working toward prison reform, even meeting with President Donald Trump last spring to discuss ways the prison system can be improved. It was around that time Kardashian shared the story of Matthew Charles, who became the first inmate to be released after Trump signed the bipartisan First Step Act.

Then, earlier this year, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star agreed to pay Charles’ rent for the next five years, to help him get back on his feet.

West’s $1 million contribution comes as he has undergone a very public spiritual rebirth that resulted in him being “radically saved” earlier this year. Adam Tyson, pastor of Placerita Bible Church in Santa Clarita, California, has been meeting with West ever since he snuck into a Sunday service in May.

Pastor Working with Kanye West Reveals Details of Rapper’s ‘Radical’ Salvation Several Months Ago

“[T]he first time I talked to him the first Sunday in June, he told me, ‘I got radically saved five weeks ago.’” Tyson recalled. “I said, ‘Kanye, what happened five weeks ago?’ He said, ‘I was just under the weight of my sin and I was being convicted that I was running from God, and I knew I needed to make things right, so I came to Christ. I came out of darkness into the light.’”

The famous entertainer also apparently briefly considered giving up rap, which he allegedly described as “the devil’s music.”

West’s first faith-based album, “Jesus Is King,” is slated to drop Friday, following the release of his IMAX-only film by the same title.
