Bryan Schrank and his 14-year-old daughter were ministering outside an abortion clinic in Indianapolis when they came across a man who didn’t need saving from the clinic but from his own personal battles.

In a post to “Rescue the Preborn,” Schrank explained that he and his daughter were ministering on a day where the clinic was only open to initial consultations.

“In Indiana, women have to have one initial “consultation” appointment and wait 18 hours until they can kill their child,” Schrank explained. “So, all the women who entered on this day left with their child still alive.”

While praying outside the clinic, Schrank and his daughter came across Eugene, a 50-year-old man with congestive heart failure. It was a chance meeting he’d later describe as a “divine appointment.”

Eugene shared with Schrank that his heart failure was due to his on-going alcohol addiction.

“His heart is working at 13% and he just got out of the hospital,” Schrank wrote. “He’s admitted his bondage is alcohol and it’s killing him. Literally.”

Feeling moved, Schrank shared the gospel with Eugene and gave him a gospel tract.

“He admitted this was a divine appointment,” Schrank shared. “He started to leave and right before he left, I told him he needed to pour out the alcohol he had with him.”

Schrank pleaded with Eugene to pour out his alcohol, and he “eventually obeyed the Holy Spirit’s conviction and poured it out on his own!”

“I embraced him, believing that God would set him free in Christ and we exchanged phone numbers!” Schrank shared.

Schrank added on Facebook that following the exchange, he hugged Eugene, and exchanged phone numbers with him, hoping to stay in contact.

“Pray!” Schrank encouraged. “Divine appointments happen when you hit the streets with the gospel.”

In an update shared on his blog, Schrank told readers that Eugene was making progress.

“I’ve been texting back and forth with this man the past week, even called him on the phone a few times to pray with him,” he wrote. “He attended a local church this past Sunday, and realizes his need to get connected to the body of Christ! He had a few sips of alcohol this past week, but didn’t drink much, because he said he was so convicted when he did so! Keep this man in your prayers!”

Schrank has been actively ministering in the Indianapolis area since 2015. He is the executive director of the ministry “Rescue the Preborn,” which was created to “help equip and coordinate Christians to minister at these abortion clinics around the state of Indiana.”
