Pop star Justin Bieber, who has become increasingly outspoken about his Christian faith, has expressed regret for not waiting until marriage to have sex.

The “Yummy” singer shared the revelation during a recent episode of “The Biebers on Watch,” a Facebook series he co-hosts with his wife, supermodel Hailey Baldwin, who is also forthright about her Christian beliefs.

“If I could go back and not have to face some of the bad hurt that I went through,” he explained, “I probably would’ve saved myself for marriage.”

“I know this sounds crazy, probably like — I don’t think it’s too much information,” Bieber continued. “I think it’s helpful — sex can be kind of confusing when you’re just being sexually active with anybody. We went there. But it’s just true. I probably would have saved myself for marriage.”

Dear Hailey, as I lay here, you asleep next to me, I think to myself how did I get so blessed. You’re humility, joy and desire to grow blows me away! I am honored to be your husband. I promise to love you all the days of our lives. Good night Hailey I hope you read this in the morning and smile! You are my FOREVER 🥰

While Baldwin, 23, agreed with her 26-year-old husband, she cast doubt over how successful she might have been about abstaining from sex before saying “I do.”

“I do agree with the fact that being physical with someone can make things more confusing,” she said.

The celebrity couple’s conversation about sex came during an hour-long discussion about their relationship and the ups and downs that ultimately led to their marriage in September 2019.

In a separate interview on the Hillsong Channel, Baldwin said she felt certain she and Bieber would get married.

“I think I always knew if we did ever work things out and get back together,” she said, “it was going to be a situation where it was very serious and we were going to get married or [it] was going to lead to that.”

Prior to restarting his relationship with Baldwin, Bieber was celibate for a year. The model, once they couple rekindled their romance, said she noticed how much her now-husband “changed and how different he was in terms of his demeanor, the way he carried himself, the way he was explaining to me what he had been doing with his life and just where he was, was different than he had ever been.”

For his part, Bieber said he always pictured himself getting married young because he came from a broken home and “always wanted to have my own family that was going to be together, and be married, and have children.”

During a conversation with Vogue last year, Bieber explained that God doesn’t want people to wait for marriage to have sex “because he wants rules and stuff.” Rather, the entertainer said, God is “trying to protect you from hurt and pain” because “sex can cause a lot of pain.”

“Sometimes people have sex because they don’t feel good enough, because they lack self-worth,” he said. “Women do that, and guys do that. I wanted to rededicate myself to God in that way because I really felt it was better for the condition of my soul. And I believe that God blessed me with Hailey as a result. There are perks. You get rewarded for good behavior.”
