A 20-year-old Chicago man is receiving much-deserved accolades after bravely jumping onto train tracks and risking his own safety to save a man from being electrocuted.

The 32-year-old victim reportedly fell on the tracks this week during a fight with someone else; he was reportedly injured after touching the electrified third rail.
While people recorded the incident from their cell phones, Anthony Perry decided to take action.
He carefully went onto the tracks and lifted the injured man out before someone else helped him take the next steps to aid the individual.
“There was a lady, I guess she had medical experience. She was talking me through on what to do,” Perry told WFLD-TV. “I feel like that was an angel from God. I ended up doing chest compressions and turning him on his side until the fire department got there.”
Both individuals involved in the scuffle were reportedly transported for medical assistance. Meanwhile, Perry’s actions have gone viral, and he’s continuing to receive praise.

Amid that recognition, Perry was also given a fantastic gift. Early Walker, founder of the group “I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot,” surprised the young man with a car.
“What?” Perry said when the car came out, covering his face in surprise and joy. “Oh boy. … I love it.”
The vehicle will make life much easier for Perry, who takes two buses and a train to get to and from work daily. Now, he can more easily drive there.
The Chicago Police Department also offered Perry accolades. District Commander Roderick Watson told The Chicago Sun how important it is to honor Perry and others like him.
“This is what we need more of. Police can’t be everywhere at all times. This is a perfect example of what we need out here to help support our efforts,” Watson said. “Now, we have a citizen who actually took charge, jumped in, and should be recognized. … Maybe later on, what we can do is pull him to the side and recruit him.”
