The horrific scenario unfolded Friday when a white BMW crashed into a palm tree and started to smolder, KRIS-TV reported.
Heart-pumping video released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department shows an officer and good Samaritan approaching the smoking vehicle and seemingly trying to get the victim out.
Suddenly, fire can be seen developing underneath the car, adding pressure to an already ominous scenario. The men jumped into high gear as the flames began to spread around the car.
“As you can see, both worked with only seconds to spare before the vehicle went up in flames,” the department said in a Facebook post. “The driver of the crashed vehicle was taken to the hospital.
Our officer was also taken to the hospital as a precaution.”
Footage shows the men pulling the driver away from the car just moments before a blaze seemingly overtook the driver’s side of the vehicle.
