On this week’s “Newsmakers,” a famous TV host finds Jesus, a look behind the curtain at The Babylon Bee, and one doctor’s dire marijuana warning.

Big Brother Host finds Jesus

Longtime “Big Brother” host Julie Chen Moonves is known for her successful TV career, but she’s also making headlines this month for another reason: her Christian faith. Moonves recently released “But First, God: An Audio Memoir of Spiritual Discovery,” a project rooted in her personal faith discovery.

“When I finally found Jesus in 2018, I had never owned a Bible,” she told CBN Digital. “And I was gifted one from a friend who was one of my favorite cameramen working in TV news.” That cameraman, who later became a pastor, helped Moonves on her journey to faith, as she dove into the Bible and began to discover eternal truth for the very first time.

Inside The Babylon Bee

The personalities behind the Christian satire site The Babylon Bee are tackling gender, a “hot-button topic in the culture” that has become both contested and flammable.

Joel Berry, managing editor of The Babylon Bee and co-author of “The Babylon Bee Guide to Gender,” said the book’s sentiments focus on an age-old problem surrounding evil and the obsession with self. Watch him explain more on “Newsmakers.”

Doctor’s Dire Marijuana Warning

A Texas doctor who researches the effects of marijuana is sounding the alarm about culture’s mainstreaming of the drug, warning its effects are anything but benign. Dr. Raymond Wiggins, an oral surgeon and author of “Weeding Out the Lies About Marijuana,” told CBN Digital weed is a drug that can have profound psychological and physical effects on the body.

Listen to them on the latest episode of “Quick Start” 👇

“If you want to talk about psychosis, for those who start using marijuana at a young age and who use it on a regular basis, there’s a two and a half times risk of psychosis,” Wiggins said. “One study … actually showed a six times risk for those who used it regularly.”
