A new survey found a stunning percentage of young American adults believe the Holocaust, in which some six million Jews were murdered, is a “myth.”
The study by YouGov and The Economist surveyed 1,500 people and found that, among those aged 18-29, 20% believe the Holocaust never happened, according to The Jerusalem Post. Seventy-seven of adults over the age of 29 disagreed with the assertion the Holocaust was a “myth.”

Those ages 18-29 “answered in the affirmative more so than any other group” on statements like: “Jews have too much power in America,” “People should boycott Israeli goods and products,” “Israel exploits Holocaust victimhood for its own purposes,” “Israel has too much control over global affairs,” and “the interests of Israelis are at odds with the interests of the rest of the world.”
The Center for Jewish Impact described the findings as “disturbing,” adding, “The Holocaust was very much real, just like the massacre of October 7th, and we will make sure the world remembers both.”

The younger respondents also displayed a higher percentage of those who believe Israel is an apartheid state deliberately trying to erase the population in Gaza.
“This 18-29 year-old age group also had the largest proportion of respondents who disagreed with the statement that Israel has a right to exist,” reported The Jerusalem Post.
These concerning data points come as antisemitism in the U.S. is escalating.
While Jewish-Americans make up less than 3% of the total U.S. population, the FBI has found they are the targets of 60% of all hate crimes across the country, CBN News reported.
Additionally, students at many college campuses spoke out against Israel in antisemitic ways following the Oct. 7 attack against Israel by Hamas, the terrorist group controlling Gaza. For example, one professor at Cornell University called the Hamas murders “exhilarating” while an instructor at Stanford University allegedly made Jewish students stand in a corner while referring to them as “colonizers.”
