“The View” host Whoopi Goldberg posited Monday abortion isn’t included under the biblical mandate “Thou shalt not kill,” one of the Ten Commandments.

During a resolute commentary, Goldberg defended abortion rights on the basis some might “need” to have the procedure. She also argued she doesn’t know everyone’s life circumstances and, thus, would support them in making such a decision if they “have to.”
“No one is obligated to have an abortion,” she said on Monday’s episode of the show. “You never have to have one, and I hope no one ever has to have one.”
She continued, “I want to make sure … that, if you decide this is what you need to do, I’m going to get behind you, because I don’t know your life, and if you say this is what you need, that’s what I’m going to do.”
Goldberg also seemingly pushed back against any gestational restrictions on abortion, proclaiming, “50 weeks, 75,000 weeks, whatever how many weeks, it’s nobody’s business.”
Whoopi Goldberg claims abortion is fine because it's not one of the Ten Commandments.

The situation turned even more eyebrow-raising once “God” was brought into the mix, as Goldberg argued abortion is a matter between “you, your doctor, and God.” She then seemingly said abortion isn’t “mentioned in the Big Ten,” referring to the Ten Commandments.
That’s when Goldberg suddenly began lecturing about God’s rules and regulations.
“God was pretty clear, ‘Here’s the stuff that will make your life better on Earth,'” she said, going on to mention the commandments precluding lying and adultery.
When fellow co-host Sunny Hostin said some evangelical Christians would say “Though shalt not kill” would include abortion, Goldberg pushed back.
“Here’s the thing: I think, ‘Thou shall not kill’ cannot be used as the block, because we allow wars all the time,” she said. “The Crusades were about all these things. So there is some conversation to be had there, so, either, thou shall not kill for everybody, and everything, or we have to talk about all the things that you and I need to do.”
However, Goldberg’s arguments do not line up with Scripture. Beyond the reality that abortion stops the heartbeat of a distinct human being and would undoubtedly fall under the parameters of “Thou shall not kill,” other verses make God’s views on the unborn more than evident.
Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV) reads, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
And Psalm 139:13 adds, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.”
These are just two of the Scriptures that call into question Goldberg’s proclamations.
Let’s continue to pray for the media and those with such informational power to see the truth and to reconsider some of the rhetoric that distorts reality to their audiences.
