“Prayer is our opportunity to go directly into the presence of Almighty God,” he said. “And we need to examine ourselves before we do this, and just ask God to cleanse our hearts.”
Graham explained that the Lord’s Prayer in Scripture offers an “outline” for how to invoke the Lord, with Jesus detailing it in Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4.
“He’s given us the blueprint that we need to pray using that as our model and structure our prayer in such a way that we’re asking for God’s will to be done, not our will, not Franklin Graham’s will, but His will and submitting ourselves to Him, and God does hear prayer.”
Graham concluded his interview with CBN News by praying for America, offering stirring words for the times in which we live. Of note, he prayed for America’s leaders.
“Father, forgive us of our sins, and, Father, we want to turn from our sins,” he said. “We pray for our president today and Vice President J.D. Vance. We pray for the Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, for all of our leaders, Father, and Kristi Noem, especially, who’s got such a tough job. Father, we pray for her today. Father, give wisdom. And then, Father, we pray for healing on our streets as there’s turmoil in our country.”
The evangelist also asked for peace and calm. Watch the full prayer above.
