This California husband is willing to do whatever it takes to support his wife through her battle with cancer.
This past week, the story of Jon and Marci Newman went viral after Jon moved his “office” outside of his wife’s bedroom, determined to be as close to her as possible as she underwent radiation treatment in isolation.
When the couple’s daughter got a glimpse of her father’s dedication, she was compelled to share a photo of the touching gesture on social media. Since Mackenna Newman tweeted the photo a couple of weeks ago, over 13,000 people have liked it and almost 10,000 have retweeted it.

This week, Mackenna spoke with Faithwire about her father’s act of love and her family’s deep devotion to God. The 17-year-old first shared that her parents’ love “really inspires me,” and that she hopes that one day she will find someone who loves God as much as she does.
Mackenna noted that her family’s faith in God has helped them cope with her mother’s diagnosis.
“We believe that God does everything for a purpose and there is a reason for everything,” she told Faithwire. “Although we may not know that reason yet, I think that all the love and strength was provided to us through Him.”
In October 2015, Marci Newman was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Earlier this month, Mackenna spoke with Buzzfeed News about the photo of her father waiting outside her mother’s room. Marci told Buzzfeed that through it all, her husband Jon has been there for her.
“Jon goes to every doctor’s appointment, every blood test, every surgery, every radiation,” she said. “And, as you can see, if he can’t be by my side he is as close as he can get!”
