Tragedy has once again struck the family of Carrie DeKlyen, a cancer-stricken woman who selflessly gave her life for her unborn child, as that baby, Life Lynn DeKlyen, also died on Wednesday night.

“It is with great sadness and a absolutely broken heart that I tell you Life Lynn passed away last night,” read a message on the family’s Facebook page. “Carrie is now rocking her baby girl.”

The message continued, “I have no explanation of why this happened, but I do know Jesus loves us and someday we will know why. The grief we feel is almost unbearable, please be praying for our family.”

The family burried the newborn baby with Carrie.

As Faithwire previously reported, Carrie DeKlyen, a mother of five, found out she had cancer and that she was pregnant at almost the exact same time. The discovery meant that she had to choose between treatment for terminal brain cancer or life for her unborn child.

In the end, the loving mom and her husband, Nick — who are both Christians — chose to let their baby live, even though declining treatment meant that she would have under a year to live.

Around 19 weeks gestation, it appeared as though both Carrie and Life Lynn would die, but the family and doctors worked together to keep DeKlyen alive so that the baby could live, delivering the baby via C-section at just 24 weeks, 5 days.

Carrie died three days later on Sept. 9. And, tragically, Life Lynn also didn’t make it.

“Maybe Carrie needed her,” Sonya Nelson, Life Lynn’s aunt, said after the baby’s tragic death. “It is comforting for us to know that she went home to be with Carrie.”

Prayers up for Nick, who will be raising five children without his loving wife. You can help the family by donating to this GoFundMe.
