Celebrities have always had a unique ability to shape culture. Whether it be through their content, advertising of products, or sharing of ideas and endorsing political stances, many will follow their lead. When they voice an opinion, many fans will get behind it. When they push a political agenda, for better or worse, people often trust what they have to say.

The Hollywood culture and influence can be detrimental to society and can create a twisted version of what is right and wrong. While many have used their platform and power of influence for selfish purposes, a small few are using it to honor God and spread the Gospel. “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt is one of them.

Not only has Pratt stood strong in his faith, but he’s also used his platform to repeatedly tell his fans about the love of God. The latest example was during his MTV Movie Awards’ speech.

1. Has used social media to gather prayer warriors

In 2012, Pratt’s son spent a month in the ICU due to complications during his birth. Pratt credits prayer for redefining his faith during that tough and trying time.

“We were scared for a long time. We prayed a lot … It restored my faith in God, not that it needed to be restored, but it really redefined it,” he told People Magazine.

This past February, when fellow actor and producer Kevin Smith had a massive heart attack, Pratt took to Twitter to ask his fans to pray for Smiths recovery and healing.

“Kevin we don’t know each other too good but I have loved you since Clerks and I’m praying my a** off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer. Can you please pray with me people!?” Pratt tweeted.

Pratt also wrote in a separate message: “Praying for you. I will continue to. You inspired me with Clerks when I was a senior HS.”

On another occasion, Pratt asked his Twitter following to pray for a young boy named Sam who was fighting brain cancer. He credited the power of prayer for saving his own son and urged others to pray for Sam.

“The power of prayer saved my son. This boy Sam needs a miracle. Say a prayer for Sam. Even if you never have b4.Try,” the actor wrote.

2. Quoted scripture while visiting children’s hospitals

Pratt has shared numerous experiences from visit children’s hospitals, visiting with kids fighting some seriously tough battles. In sharing his experiences visiting these hospitals, the actor often includes Bible verses with his messages and photos.

In one captions, he cites Psalm 37:3–4: “Trust in the LORD, and do good. Dwell in the land, and enjoy safe pasture. Also delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

On another occasion, Pratt stopped at the Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children’s Charity in London to visit patients and staff there.

He captioned the photo with a reminder of how unbreakable a child’s spirit is, quoting Psalm 1107:8-9, “Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men! For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good. ”

3. Talked about his faith while at award ceremonies

At last weeks MTV Awards Pratt took the opportunity to give advice to both the audience there and the millions that tuned in. He was awarded the “Our Generation Award” and took the opportunity to give the audience 9 of his “rules.” They includes wise words about prayer, the love of God and the Gospel.

Watch:

In April 2017, Pratt received his Hollywood star and the role his mother played in shaping him. He added that he believed that his mother was a gift straight from God.

“I’m a man of faith, and I believe that God works in mysterious ways and gives us signs and gifts in life —and those gifts oftentimes come in the form of people,” he continued. “[My mother] gave absolutely everything she had to raise us, every fiber of her being. And oftentimes, we weren’t cash-rich, but we were never love-poor. You gave everything and you were always proud of me, way before this.”

He also posted a photo to his Instagram, and captioned it with the Bible verse Psalm 126:3, “The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”

5. Used social media to glorify God

In 2016, Pratt created a giant cross to celebrate Easter and the gift that was Jesus death and resurrection. He documented the process on Instagram from start to finish.

When you hear the word Hollywood “Christian” is hardly the first word to come to mind. Despite the number of Christians in this country, A-list celebrities willing to share their faith are few and far between.

John 8:12 reads, “Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, ‘I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness but will have the Light of life.'”

Over the past couple of years, Pratt has been a light in the darkness of Hollywood, and his popularity continues to soar. Pray for Chris Pratt, and that he continues to use his platform to share his faith and spread the word of God.
