Two days ago, Justin Bieber officially announced his engagement to long-time friend and model Hailey Baldwin in an Instagram post.

Hailey and Justin’s friendship goes back to when they were teenagers, when Hailey’s dad, Stephen Baldwin, introduced the two. They were on and off romantically over the past couple of years, recently going public with the relationship, a little over a month ago.

Over the past month, they have been photographed traveling together, hanging out in New York a lot and going to Hillsong Church together regularly.

TMZ first reported that Justin asked Stephen Baldwin for his blessing, citing sources close to the couple. One source said Stephen granted his blessing, saying the two are “the perfect match because they have the same Christian values.”

Bieber, who is very outspoken about his faith, took to Instagram to confirm the rumors yesterday.

“Was gonna wait a while to say anything but word travels fast, listen plain and simple Hailey I am soooo in love with everything about you,” the caption began. “So committed to spending my life getting to know every single part of you loving you patiently and kindLY.”

He continued, promising to be a faithful leader, and make every decision based off of his relationship with Jesus Christ.

“I promise to lead our family with honor and integrity letting Jesus through his Holy Spirit guide us in everything we do and every decision we make,” the pop star wrote.

He credited the milestone to God’s timing, explaining that they got engaged on July 7, a date that represents Gods number of spiritual perfection.

Actor Stephen Baldwin: ‘You Can’t Be Pro-Choice and Call Yourself a Follower of Jesus Christ’

“The thing I am most excited for is that my little brother and sister get to see another healthy stable marriage and look for the same!!! Gods timing really is literally perfect, we got engaged on the seventh day of the seventh month, the number seven is the number of spiritual perfection, it’s true GOOGLE IT! Isn’t that nuts? By the way I didn’t plan that, anyways My goodness does feel good to have our future secured!”

He ended his caption by quoting Proverbs 18:22 saying: “’He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains FAVOR from the Lord!’ This is the year of favor!!!!”

Ever since the singer canceled his tour in 2017, his expression of his faith has only grown. He does not shy away from posting about his faith on social media, and even led a spontaneous worship session at Coachella a few months back.

But what about fiancée Hailey’s faith?

Turns out that Hailey is also pretty outspoken about her faith as well. Aside from sharing a love for the popular Hillsong Church, she has also been one to talk about her relationship with Jesus Christ on multiple occasions.

In 2016, Hailey talked about her faith in an interview with Teen Vogue, in which mentioned being raised a Christian and described what it’s like living out her faith in the spotlight.

“I was raised in church. I was brought up in that life, and I think that it’s very important for everybody to be in touch with their spirituality and to have a relationship with God,” she said.

“I think that God kind of put me in the place in my life to not be quiet about it, not be quiet about him, but to reach people and to inspire people,” she said of her platform.

Hailey grew up in a Christian home, with her father, Stephen Baldwin, always vocal about his faith.

In a May article, The Times refered to Hailey’s childhood as a balancing act “between stints of home-tutoring, ballet and Bible study.”

She also told The Times that she will raise her kids the same way she was raised, with morals stemming from her Christianity.

“I have serious morals that are instilled in me because of how I was raised,” Baldwin says. “There are some things that will never leave my structure. It will be the way I raise my kids, it’s just who I am. I would never pose naked. T**s out is not my thing.”

In her 2016 interview with Teen Vogue, she stated that she uses the Bible as her tool that guides her life decisions in the day-to-day, while stressing the importance of fellowship with other believers.

“I don’t look at it as a religion,” she told the magazine. “I look at it as your own personal relationship with God because, what I believe, it doesn’t say in the Bible that it’s a set religion and a set standard of rules. It’s your own personal relationship with God between you and him, and the Bible is a tool for you to be able to live that out day by day. Church is a tool for you to fellowship with other people that believe in what you believe in.”

Two days ago, Hailey broke her silence on the engagement via Twitter, thanking God for her engagement to Bieber.

“Not sure what I did in life to deserve such happiness but I am so utterly grateful to God for giving me such an incredible person to share my life with!” she wrote. “No words could ever express my gratitude.”

This wasn’t the first time Hailey used her Twitter to glorify God. Last week Baldwin retweeted a tweet of staff from a hospital all praying together.

In an interview with Fashion Magazine, the model talked about how she thinks Christianity is a “touchy” subject, but that she feels confident to talk about it.

“I don’t think anybody should be afraid to represent or talk about it, even though I feel there’s something about Christianity that makes people very touchy,” she said, as reported by Fox News. “Definitely, at times — even now — it’s hard for me. Which is why, now in my 20s, I try to surround myself with people who believe the same thing I do — who follow it and are open to it — because it’s too hard to constantly get people to understand what I do if they just aren’t interested in it.”

Hailey also shares prayers and small devotionals to her Instagram account, often expressing her faith in God’s sovereignty.
