A junior high school teacher in Texas has been arrested on felony human trafficking charges for attempting to sell an underage family member to two men in Morocco.

Authorities with the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday they detained 37-year-old Amber Michelle Parker, according to the Associated Press.

KWKT-TV reported that investigators learned on Dec. 26 that Parker had traveled to Morocco to visit a man she first interacted with via Facebook. The next day, officials spoke with the underage victim, who recalled being at Parker’s home Nov. 19, when the teacher sent sexually explicit pictures of the girl in lingerie to the men.

The affidavit claimed Parker even discussed flying the two men to the U.S. to engage in sexual intercourse with the minor victim. Conversely, the two African men were allegedly trying to convince Parker to fly to Casablanca with the young girl.

Throughout the entire interaction, Parker continued to send photos of the girl to the men. She reportedly instructed the victim to pose in various positions with different body parts exposed.

How did the school respond?

The Mexia Independent School District suspended Parker from her teaching position following the felony charges. The district superintendent, Dr. Lyle DuBus, said in a letter to parents Parker “will not be returning to the classroom.”

“Any adult in our organization that endangers a child will not continue employment,” DuBus added.

Diwhaunne Clark, who graduated from a school in the Mexia district and has a little brother in the school system, described Parker’s alleged actions as “real horrific.”

“I just talked to him today and he was like- he couldn’t believe it himself,” Clark said of his brother. “He’s 13 and it’s mind boggling for him. It’s crazy and we don’t know how to handle things. We are just going through the motions.”

He added, “Pray and watch out for your kids and just be there.”
