This week she made Billboard history when her hit single “You Say” secured the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart for the 62 week in a row.

The Grammy-award winning singer beat out Hillsong United’s “Oceans,” which sat at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs for 61 weeks.

In an interview with Billboard, Daigle explained that she actually drew inspiration from “Oceans” when writing her album.

“I really pondered the journey of the song ‘Oceans,’ and I remember seeing the impact that song made on so many people. It was just so beautiful to me,” Daigle shared with Billboard. “I hoped that I could be a part of something that shakes the earth like that song. I didn’t know that would ever happen, and I had no idea that ‘You Say’ would be something that would parallel the life of ‘Oceans.'”

Daigle released “You Say” from her album “Look Up Child” in July 2018. The album, which came out in September 2018, spent 48 straight weeks at No. 1 on Top Christian Albums, making it the longest-reigning album on the Top Christian Albums chart.

Not only did the album set records in the Christian music world, but it also beat out secular artists such as Drake, Ariana Grande, and many others the week it came out, ranking at No. 3 on the overall Billboard 200 chart.

“The fan stories have made ‘You Say’ all the more rich,” Daigle said, according to Billboard. “It was the first song we wrote after ‘How Can It Be,’ when I was unsure and insecure in myself. From a writing perspective, I was feeling rusty, and ‘You Say’ was the song that made me feel like we were back on track.”

“Knowing that it has connected to so many people is an amazing feeling.”

Daigle is taking off on her first world tour on January 18, starting in Melbourne, Australia, and concluding in her hometown of Lafayette, Georgia.
