In a recent interview with “Fox and Friends,” former NHL player Mike Fisher opened up about his new company, “Catchin’ Deers,” his family, and the role faith plays in his life.

Fisher, who started “Catchin’ Deers,” a hunting supply and apparel brand, with his brother Bud and some friends, said the idea was natural, noting he has always felt closest to God while hunting and fishing. He explained that after he retired God placed this idea on his heart, and even though it was unexpected, he went after it.

From the start, Fisher and his team wanted their project to be more than just a business venture, so they set out to create a brand that incorporates their values and spreads the love of God.

“We love the outdoors, we love to hunt, and we are in Tractor Supply now nationally. We love sharing our faith through the outdoors,” Fisher told the “Fox and Friends” hosts.

“This company and these friendships are a gift from God,” a description on the Catchin’ Deers website reads. “We want to honor Him with them. “

The team routinely shares Bible verses to their social media accounts. This past week, the Catchin’ Deers Instagram page posted the text of Hebrews 11:6.

“And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him,” the verse reads.

In addition to faith, Fisher and his company like to incorporate humor whenever possible.

“We love to make people laugh,” Fisher said, adding that they have a new music video coming out soon.

Fisher on his relationship with Carrie Underwood

Fisher and his wife Carrie Underwood, although active on social media, try to keep their relationship and family life private. They will show their sons on social media every once in a while, but as Fisher pointed out, they are strategic about what they post.

“We don’t show a lot of faces, but at the same time, we love our sons and part of me wants to show that,” Fisher said.

The “Fox and Friends” hosts asked Fisher how he met Underwood, which he explained was through mutual friends.

“We met at a meet and greet, actually,” he said. “We had mutual friends and she was like ‘in case he’s weird, I don’t want to have to deal with him, so we will filter him through a meet and greet.'”

He added that he was surrounded by female concertgoers, but eventually got to talk to the country star. Three months later they went on their first date.

“I guess I said the right things,” he joked.

Fisher and Underwood have been going strong ever since, recently celebrating nine years of marriage. They have two sons, Isaiah, 4, and Jacob, who was born in January.

“9 years feels like 9 minutes!!!!” Fisher wrote on Instagram. “Grateful to be on this journey with you.”

But it hasn’t been an easy road for the couple. Underwood has been open about her struggles with miscarriage, suffering three painful losses within a two-year period.

Last fall, Underwood shared how the miscarriages and a dangerous accident in early 2018 that left her unable to sing for months caused her to re-examine her relationship with God and find hope when she felt all had been lost.

“… I was like, ‘Why on Earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? Like, what is this? Shut the door. Like, do something. Either shut the door or let me have a kid,’” she recalled pleading with God. “And for the first time, I feel like I actually I told God how I felt. And I feel, like, we’re supposed to do that.”

Shortly after that heart-to-heart with God, a pregnant Underwood went to the doctor, expecting they would “confirm another miscarriage.” Instead, she was told “everything was great.” Their son Jacob is now a healthy 9-month-old.
