It’s been widely reported that ex-NFL star Aaron Hernandez had “John 3:16” scrawled in red marker across his forehead, had red marks on his hands and feet and a Bible opened to John 3 when he was found hanged in his prison cell earlier this month.

But new reports claim that biblical references weren’t the only symbols found at the scene of the apparent suicide inside Hernandez’s cell at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley, Mass.

The reports also indicate that Hernandez purportedly used his own blood to scrawl eerie symbols on the walls of his cell before he hanged himself. The resulting drawings were what WCVB-TV called the “unfinished pyramid and the all-seeing eye of God” — an image that is similar to what is seen on the back of U.S. paper money. The word “ILLUMINATI” was reportedly written underneath these symbols, along with an oval with rays emerging from it sitting above the pyramid, the local station reported.

The Illuminati typically references a secretive group, or a range of real and faux groups, at the center of scores of conspiracy theories, including claims that members of these secret groups are angling for world domination.

While initial reports speculated that Hernandez might have been using drugs at the time of his death, toxicology reports found no illegal drugs in his system — this includes K2, a form of synthetic marijuana that was purportedly found inside his cell, according to the Daily Mail.

Sources have said that Hernandez also left behind three letters inside his cell: one to his daughter, one to his fiancé and another to his attorneys. There has also been speculation about a purported letter left to one of Hernandez’s prison friends, though it is unclear if this note was truly penned.

As Faithwire previously reported, Hernandez was serving a life sentence at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Shirley for the 2013 murder of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez’s death came just days after his acquittal in the murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The former Patriots tight end was set to appeal his conviction in the Lloyd case as well, as WBZ-TV noted.

Hernandez left behind fiancé Shayanna Jenkins as well as the couple’s 4-year-old daughter.
