Mother-of-Four Was Scheduled to Have an Abortion When a ‘Miraculous Day’ Changed Everything

In a recent blog post, a volunteer at a North Carolina pro-life group shares the remarkable story of how the life of woman she just met changed dramatically over the course of a week. Vicky Kaseorg, of the Charlotte-based Cities4Life organization, describes her chance encounter with a woman referred to only as J—a mother of four who was planning to have an abortion after falling on tough times—as a “miracle from God.”

As a Cities4Life volunteer, Kaseorg spends her days outside abortion clinics around North Carolina, praying for visitors and offering expectant mothers an alternative choice to abortion.

“J was a brave woman who thought she had to abort her baby since her situation was so difficult” Kaseorg blogged. “Honestly, she faced some of the most difficult circumstances anyone could face with a new baby on the way.”

But after speaking with a Cities4Life volunteer, J not only chose to keep her unborn baby, but she also decided to marry the father of her children and longtime boyfriend.

“She chose life for her baby, then chose to ask Jesus to be Lord of her life, was convicted of the need to obey God in all things, told her boyfriend, who said, ‘Then let’s get married now,’” Kaseorg explained.

The couple, who Kaseorg describes as having “four living children together with one in Heaven,” have been together for 11 years and considered getting married in the past, but it was never the right time. “With a life newly dedicated to God,” however, they felt “the urgency of marriage had reached a boiling point.”

After meeting with Cities4Life counselor and working through some scheduling conflicts, J and her boyfriend decided to get married immediately. Kaseorg was tasked with planning the nuptials, and turned to Cities4Life donors to help defray costs.

She writes:

The happy couple and I dashed downtown to the courthouse, filled out the marriage license application, submitted and paid for through Cities4Life donors.

Then, we went to a consignment shop and instantly found a perfect dress and shoes! I reached the shop before the couple, guessed on her taste, picked out a dress and when she walked in the door, held it up.

“I LOVE that dress!!!” She tried it on. Fit as though it was made for her.

I had already snagged a beautiful ring from home that I never wear and had found years ago. I kept it, thinking one day God would reveal who I could bless with that lovely ring. I hoped it would fit J. It did! Perfectly. As though it were made for her. I gave the ring box to the groom.

We were momentarily stymied when we found out they could not marry right away, but would have to return at 6pm for a Justice of the Peace wedding. MIRACULOUSLY, I got a lead on a pastor who performs weddings and would come to us! I told him J’s story, and he said he was honored to be a part of this. He lives an hour or so away, but just happened to be in town which never happens. He could do the wedding at 3 pm. Best of all, he is a strong Christian, and this union would be sanctified before God!

With two hours lead time, J was able to get her best friend to come to the gorgeous park . Daniel managed to fight terrible traffic jams to make it in time. I went home to change into a dress, and somehow, we all arrived at 3:00 ready for a wedding.

Last Thursday, the couple married in a ceremony that Kaseorg described as “moving.” The bride and groom then got to enjoy a special wedding night thanks to another generous donation.

“Another Cities4Life donor paid for a room at a swanky hotel downtown for the wedding night,” Kaseorg said. “This is a hard working couple, but circumstances beyond their control had landed them in rough waters. A fancy hotel and a garden wedding were not in their wildest dreams. Survival edged those thoughts out.”

Having known J and her family for just 72 hours, Kaseorg described the experience as a “miraculous day,” adding that “you just never know how God will use you when you wake up in the morning and say, ‘Here am I. Send me.’”

“They were so grateful and so happy. That beaming woman was a completely different lady than the one I met Monday, depressed, despairing and hopeless at the abortion center,” Kaseorg said. “The couple left us for their honeymoon night in the fancy hotel, all smiles and joy. May Christ guide their future as He did this miraculous day.”
